Privacy Policy for GrænseListen
Last updated: September 16, 2026
Summary
GrænseListen does not collect any data. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server that stores your shopping lists. Everything you create stays on your device and in your own iCloud.
Introduction
GrænseListen is a cross-border shopping list app developed by RH-DEV. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use version 2.0 or later.
Version 1.x worked differently: it required an account and stored your lists on our server. That version is no longer distributed, and the changes are described under “The old server” below.
No Account
GrænseListen has no sign-in and no user accounts. We do not receive your name, your email address, or any identifier for you.
Your Data
The app stores the following on your device:
- Shopping lists (name, date, items)
- Shopping items (product name, category, quantity, German price and currency, note)
- Stores (name, address, city, type, note)
- Item history, so previously used items can be added again quickly
We have no access to any of it.
iCloud Sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, your data is synchronized between your own Apple devices through CloudKit’s private database. That database belongs to your Apple Account. We cannot read it, and neither can anyone else you have not shared your Apple Account with.
Apple’s handling of the data is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
If you are not signed in to iCloud, the app still works — your data simply stays on the one device.
The app works offline. No internet connection is needed to plan or complete a shopping trip.
The Old Server
Users upgrading from version 1.x have their existing lists on our old server at gl-api.rh-dev.io. To avoid losing them, version 2.0 downloads that data once per device, using the credentials already stored on the device from the previous version. The data is then saved locally and in your iCloud, and the app never contacts the server again.
The server will be shut down after January 15, 2027, and all data on it — including accounts, lists and email addresses from version 1.x — will be deleted. After that date the app makes no network requests of its own at all.
What We Removed in Version 2.0
These features are gone, along with the data they involved:
- Accounts and sign-in (Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, magic links)
- Groups and shared lists — lists can now only be shared as a file you export yourself
- The shared product catalogue
- Premium and in-app purchases
- Crash reporting — the app no longer sends crash reports or diagnostics anywhere
- Exchange rates — the app no longer contacts the European Central Bank
Analytics and Tracking
There is none. The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone, because nothing is collected.
Permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Internet | iCloud sync, and the one-time transfer of data from the old server |
The app does not access your camera, location, contacts, photos, or microphone.
Deleting Your Data
- Delete individual lists, items or stores in the app
- Use Settings → Delete all to clear everything on the device. If you are signed in to iCloud, the deletion is synchronized to your other devices as well
- To remove the data from iCloud entirely, open the Settings app → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, and delete the data stored for GrænseListen
- Removing the app from your last device does not by itself delete what is already in iCloud
Children’s Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13.
